I Heart Faces Week 27 - “Pets” and "Sports" Photo Entries

This week at http://www.iheartfaces/ the themes are pets (animals or pets) and sports. I didn't have many action photos to choose from (At least not any I thought were contest worthy) but I found this one that I took in Mexico 3 years ago of my sister surfing. This was taken with my dads Canon 40D that I am totally jealous of.... This was not the best trip for me. Two days after arriving in Mexico my DSLR was ruined by a freak wave that came up over my head when I was on the rocks taking pictures of the ocean. Thankfully my dad still trusted me enough to take some pictures with his camera! Aren't dad's the best! He grounded me from rocks though!

This was Jenny's first time surfing so she was so excited that she got up. Just look at that expression! I threw in some textures and a mask overlay that I learned from Jessica Sprague's online photography class.

If you have been by my blog I just changed my entry for the pets. I noticed the judge was a guy and I didn't think he would appreciate all the scrapbooking edits as much me! LOL! I also looked at his profile and his picture style is unique, unedited, and fun. He seems to love candid moments and capturing silly moments that you will never forget.

So I thought this picture would be better suited for the contest. My dog Adda is afraid of the water... of course she is still a puppy so we are working on that. But if I wade out in the water just a little at a time she will follow me out. If I get to far out she will bark at me. This one was taken of her barking at me and getting mad because she didn't want to go out any further.

Good luck to all that enter this week!

I love both of these shots!! I especially like the processing on the 1st one, and the puppy's face in the 2nd one :)

Wow, I am impressed with your depth of thinking about the judge's preference on your pet photo! Having not seen the previous entry, this new little guy is so cute, with the water streaming from his mouth. And your sports entry is fabulous! I love the crispness of the image and the fantastic expression...very sad story about your camera, though.

Both entries are great! I didn't see your first pet entry but the second one is adorable!!!

We have a new puppy too and I haven't yet gotten a small swimming pool to see if we can get her used to water - it's on my list of things to do.

What are going to do for a camera now? This was your new d60 that got ruined right?
So sad! I agree with your dad, you are grounded from rocks, but your picture of your sister surfing turned out so cute! I bet she loves it!
I love the pictures and the edits. I tried to figure out the I heart faces site and I am so confused. Where do you start with it?lol
Thanks for your sweet compliments you left on my blog. I love the Narnia movies, and hope they do all of the series!

I super love your pet entry! Love the angle, the composition, the bokeh and really love the pup! So so gorgeous. She's a lab isn't she?? Shouldn't she adore water? LOL

And the surfing shot - the processing and her expression - fantastic!

So cool that this shot was chosen. As soon as I saw it, I knew that you were a fellow Jessica Sprague class-taker. I'm seriously behind on doing anything with the class. I've been looking through your blog and you have done some beautiful edits with stamp, textures and frames.
